TRUCK TECH TIPS FROM "THE LEGEND"
Do you know when
to go "wild" and when to go mild? Well if you are driving a truck that is
really an important decision. Why? Because setting up your truck for how
you regularly drive it, is really the "map" for your success! From a daily
driver, tow rig, puller, rock climber, or actual drag racing rig, your
strategic plan for use will give you the right recipe for maximum performance.
While "race only" trucks will opt for max lift and duration
with tighter LSA's, we recommend that you build for maximum performance for your
particular needs. EFI /MAF equipped engines in today's trucks require a
different mindset than what Dad's truck demanded. Today's trucks are equipped
with many options that require VERY HIGH VACUUM production. We build our "STREET" cams
with this in mind. The delicate combination of duration, overlap, LCA, and LSA
combined with the lobe acceleration profiles make VINCI camshafts the leader in
the performance truck market. No other cam manufacturer can compete with our
Truck Specific Grinds!
Trucks are beefy and weighty and maximizing the torque will
get it up and going quicker so that your zero to sixty mph elapsed time is
quicker even when more heavily loaded or towing. Be careful in selecting
larger carburetion or intake manifolds, high flow fuel injection, or headers,
etc. Remember that max torque comes from maximum airflow velocity not
volume! Our advice is, unless you are an all out racer, keep it "mild" and
don't go quite so "wild."
note! all VHP camshafts are for 3 bolt applications. Many LS engines built after 2007 are equipped with DOD, AFM, or VVT, and use single bolt camshafts. A 3 bolt camshaft timing gear must be purchased to use our cams. In some cases dod, afm, or vvt delete kits will also need to be purchased.
